Fall Raye Trio, Tomatillo at Deep Cuts
Wednesday, April 23 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
$10 – $15This Music (TM) Presents brings another night of jazz at Deep Cuts, featuring the Fall Raye Trio and Tomatillo. Fall Raye is a trans/non-binary saxophonist, improviser, and composer living in Boston. Their work in music is inspired by the trans experience in the U.S., interpersonal relationships, and opposing oppressive global systems. The trio also includes Devon Gates (bass and vocals) and Tyson Jackson (drums).
Tomatillo is a groove-forward quartet blending cinematic flair with global influences. Inspired by 1970s Italian film soundtracks, John Zorn’s boundary-pushing creativity, and the rich textures of Middle Eastern and Latin American music, their original compositions are immersive and adventurous. The band features Martin Gohary (piano), Eric Barber (sax), Carlos Herrand Pou (drums) and Doug Harrison (bass).
Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 show day through Dice.
This Music (TM) Presents is a Boston musician’s initiative to recognize the creativity of many who haven’t been given the stage as leaders, often younger than the jazz scene veterans; those with acknowledgment who can create a new project and musical ideas; and the unsung “gems” who aren’t in the public’s eye and deserve to be. The emphasis is on the freer forms, the adventurous (to help find a “home”).
