Sea Songs and Stories with Davis Bates

The Medford Public Library invites you to join singer/storyteller Davis Bates for an evening of maritime music. Bates will share traditional sea chanteys and some stories too. A Western Massachusetts resident, Davis has been telling stories for over 38 years, in schools, libraries, and community settings around New York and New England and across the country. His recording "Family Stories" won a prestigious Parents Choice Magazine Gold Award, and received a starred review by the American Library Association’s "Booklist" magazine.

Tony Savarino's Savtones perform in their third Wednesday residency at The Porch Southern Fare & Juke Joint, joined tonight by special guest vocalist Danielle Miraglia. Savarino is a pillar of the Boston music scene. His original compositions are instrumentals focusing on guitar melodies. It's like instrumental Western Swing with some early jazz with some telecaster twang with a little blues and a great sense of humor. The Medford Community Chorale and Youth/Young Adult Chorus present their spring concert, entitled Lift Every Voice and Sing! The concert, a celebration of the joy of music and singing, was the one being planned by the Community Chorale in 2020 when COVID-19 intervened. The Abbott Street String Band brings some old-timey music to The Porch Southern Fare & Juke Joint. This group of local old-time players formed at an Abbott Street residence during the pandemic. They feature acoustic instruments such as banjos, fiddles and guitars, and groove on the melodies of traditional fiddle tunes, dances and reels.
