Medford musician Emily O’Brien begins her 2023 series of online music workshops with “Ensemble Skills All By Your Lonesome.” Ensemble skills include listening to other parts, responding to what you hear, giving clear cues and cutoffs, keeping the rhythm steady, leading and following tempo changes, and more. There’s nothing like playing with other people, but it’s still possible to practice and improve your ensemble skills even when you’re all by yourself. This course will utilize some basic technology – the only absolute requirements are a metronome and a device that can record video (a cell phone is just fine).  The course will meet on four consecutive Tuesdays, January 10, 17, 24 and 31. Cost is $100 for the series.
