Charles Wesley Godwin, who last fall opened for Ward Davis at The Porch Southern Fare & Juke Joint, returns for a solo show on the heels of his 2021 album release, “How the Mighty Fall.” A native of West Virginia, Godwin performs country-folk — Appalachian Americana rooted in his sharp songwriting and backwoods baritone. His acclaimed 2019 debut album, “Seneca,” was celebrated by everyone from Rolling Stone to NPR’s Mountain Stage. “How the Mighty Fall” is a collection of character-driven songs about mortality, hope and regret, putting an intimate spin on the universal concerns we all share.
