This month’s “Words and Music” program at the West Medford Community Center will feature the fourth installment of its “Women of Substance” series, with guests Breanna Lungo-Koehn and Michelle (Richardson) LaPoetica. Lungo-Koehn has been a member of the Medford City Council since 2001 (serving as the youngest city councilor in Medford’s history) and is challenging a sitting mayor this year in her quest to lead the city. This timely and personal conversation will  provide an inside look at who she is and how she came to be.

LaPoetica is a slam poet from Lynn who is well known in the local poetry, hip-hop and spoken word scene. She will be joined by her dynamic “SoulCypher” crew for an evening of verbal gymnastics, funky beats and rockin’ rhythms.

The West Medford Community Center launched Words and Music in 2017. Usually presented on the first Friday of every month, the event starts off with a discussion on a valuable aspect of the community, followed by a performance by a local musician or musicians.
