Words and Music: Best Friends Forever
Friday, June 13 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FreeHost Terry E. Carter and Calvin Lindsay Jr. will take a tour down memory lane in tonight’s edition of the West Medford Community Center’s Words and Music program, titled “Best Friends Forever.” Lindsay is an accomplished and highly decorated filmmaker and former series producer at WGBH’s landmark “Say Brother” program. He also served on the WMCC board and was one of the driving forces on getting the new center built. Join Terry and Calvin in the first hour as they share stories and tell a few tales “out of school” on the stage at 111 Arlington St., a place that both men considered their second home during their boyhood days.
The second hour will feature native vocalist Anita “A.J.” Wood, a versatile vocalist with roots in musical theater and a cappella who more recently has dived into jazz. A big fan of the classic American songbook, Wood fronts a cool trio that includes Steve Linscott and also saxophone and Carolyn “Sue” Howard on piano.
The program also will be carried live by Medford Community Media on the city’s cable access stations (Comcast Channel 9 and Verizon Channel 47) and live-streamed on the WMCC Facebook page.
The West Medford Community Center launched Words and Music in 2017. The program starts off with a discussion on a valuable aspect of the community, followed by a performance by a local musician or musicians.
