Words and Music: Affordable Housing in Medford

Friday, May 4, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Free

The West Medford Community Center presents its monthly “Words and Music” program.

The “Words” component will be on the topic “Affordable Housing in Medford,” an issue of great interest throughout the Medford community. A facilitated discussion will feature representatives from Medford Community Housing, the Medford Community Preservation Act Committee, and the Medford Conversations Group. The panel will explore the value to the community of having an affordable housing stock, the current state of the city in this regard, and the possible solutions for addressing this concern.

The “Music” will be by The Peter Cicco Group performing original jazz, funk and fusion with Latin jazz influences as well as soul by artists like Marvin Gaye and Al Green. The group features Peter Cicco on guitar and vocals, a professional musician in the Boston area for over three decades; Jim Repa (sax), a computer engineer at MIT who also has had a busy professional musical career; Dan Fox (bass), an Arlington resident and multi-instrumentalist who has toured the world with a number of acclaimed acts; and Cuban-born Santiago Hernandez (drums), an expert in Latin rhythms and experienced in jazz as well.

The Community Center launched Words and Music last summer. Offered the first Friday of every month, the event starts off with a discussion on a valuable aspect of the community, followed by a performance by a local musician.
