Tufts Sunday Concert: Vento Chiaro

Sunday, February 17, 2019 @ 3:00 pm

The Tufts University Sunday Concert Series presents “Breath of the Tufts Community,” a wind chamber concert featuring the quintet Vento Chiaro. The concert will celebrate the rich tradition of composition at and around Tufts,  showcasing wind instruments and the breath of musical life that flows from creators to performers to listeners and back again.

The program will feature world premiers of new works by Tufts faculty member Thomas Stumpf and Tufts alum William Kenlon, and will also include “Duettino” and “Reeder’s Digest” by Tufts faculty member John McDonald; “Five Etudes and a Fancy” by former Tufts faculty member T.J. Anderson; “Western Language” by Tufts student Alexander Hite; and “All the Wings You Gave Us” by Tufts community member Oliver Caplan and inspired by the power of mentorship to help shape young, creative lives.

Vento Chiaro consists of Ona Jonaityte, flute; Elizabeth England, oboe; Juliet Lai, clarinet; Sam Childers, bassoon; and Anne Howarth, horn. The quintet recently begaun “The Boston Project,” a multi-year exploration of what it means to be of a place and woven into the musical fabric of that place.

Free; no tickets required.
