Arts Collaborative Medford invites you to join John Dalton’s Spheres of Influence as they present a set of original compositions reflecting on the various crises of our era, in partnership with the Medford Jazz Festival and Medford Arts Council. Performing for Spheres of Influence will be band leader John Dalton (drums), Erik Van Dam (saxophones), Jim Robitaille (guitar), Jonathan Fagan (piano) and Evan Palmer (bass). Their concert will begin at 7:15 p.m., but arrive early for a pre-concert discussion starting at 6:45 that will center on how art can address social and political themes, helping both performers and audiences to collaborate, communicate, and process emotions about acute, complex issues. Dalton will discuss various methodologies of composition, improvisation, performance, and how they relate to the aesthetics behind his tunes. This is a free community event with a suggested donation of $15, which will go directly toward the musicians participating in this program. RSVP through the ACM website.
