Palm Press Bookstore in Medford Square presents a talk with Drew Leventhal and Owen McCarter of Valley Books. Started in 2023 by Leventhal, Valley Books is a new publishing imprint specializing in small run, handmade publications. “The Three-Eyed Fish” by Owen McCarter, a stunning book of photogravure prints, is the most recent publication. The book follows McCarter’s journey “along the Housatonic River in Western Massachusetts and a search for the pollution caused by a General Electric superfund site at the river’s source.” Drew and Owen will discuss the photographs, the design and production of the book, and more. A Q&A will follow. There will also be copies for purchase of the two other Valley Books titles, “Go to the Land and I Will Show You” by Alana Perino and “Asterisms” by Leventhal.

Palm Press Bookstore features more than 1,000 used photobooks curated from the collection of owner Gus Kayafas, as well as a selection of new books from an expanding list of publishers such as Stanley/Barker, MACK, Steidl, Eakins Press, MoMA and more.
