Arts Collaborative Medford presents its first Poetry and Song Open Mic Nights of the new year, hosted by Medford Poet Laureate Vijaya Sundaram. The Medford Council on Aging presents its annual Chinese New Year Celebration; 2025 is the Year of the Wood Snake, a symbol of longevity, wisdom and mystery in the Chinese culture. Enjoy a Chinese luncheon of salt-and-pepper chicken wings, baked shrimp with garlic, pork lo mein, steamed white rice, and dessert from Mystic Valley Elder Services' Nutrition Program. In conjunction with the current exhibition "Impossible Music," Tufts University Art Galleries is presenting a series of four player piano sessions featuring the boundary-defying work of composer Conlon Nancarrow. Nancarrow was one of the first composers to work with “auto-playing” musical instruments, particularly the player piano, because of its ability to perform scores that exceeded human ability.
