Moontype + 2 Acts at Deep Cuts
Moontype, an indie rock band from Chicago fronted by Margaret McCarthy, headlines tonight's live music at Deep Cuts. Other band members are Emerson Hunton on drums, and Joe Suihkonen and Andrew Clinkman on guitar. Also performing will be Boston-based singer-songwriter Night Moth and multi-instrumentalist Samuel Boat, aka Sam Lisabeth, longtime member of art rock/synth pop band Guerilla Toss. As part of the ongoing "Impossible Music" exhibition at Tufts University Art Galleries, the Tufts New Music Ensemble — with special guest John McDonald — will perform a selection from Tom Johnson’s "Imaginary Music" series (1974-1975, 1993). Containing a total of 104 scores, these drawings of musical symbols or loose suggestions of notes promote non-linear interpretations, and Johnson used them as tools to imagine new musical possibilities. Arts Collaborative Medford is hosting a benefit concert for the nonprofit organization Mutual Aid Medford and Somerville (MAMAS), headlined by an EP release show by the band Sue. Also performing will be Solace in Bloom, Told Not to Worry, Seals Canoe, and Geronimostilton. Suggested donation is $10; all proceeds will go to MAMAS, a mutual aid organization supporting the communities of Medford and Somerville.
