Climate Change Book Club: The Light Pirate
Wednesday, June 11 @ 7:00 pm - 8:45 pm
FreePlanet and Pages, the Medford Public Library’s Climate Change Book Club, meets to discuss “The Light Pirate,” a novel by Lily Brooks-Dalton. Told in four parts — power, water, light and time — “The Light Pirate” mirrors the rhythms of the elements and the sometimes quick, sometimes slow dissolution of the world as we know it. It is a meditation on the changes we would rather not see, the future we would rather not greet, and a call back to the beauty and violence of an untamable wilderness. Books will be available to borrow from the library, and registration will be available through the library’s online calendar.
Led by green entrepreneur and Trove Green Provisions owner Clare Flaherty, the club reads both non-fiction and fiction books about climate change and explores topics such as global warming, plastic pollution, environmental inequity, and proposed solutions to combat their effects. Trove Green Provisions is a people and planet friendly product and refilling store offering provisions and services to help you live a lower waste and greener life.
