Tufts Composers New Sounds Now #1: Elizabeth Reian Bennett

Thursday, September 15, 2022 @ 3:15 pm - 4:00 pm
Free

The Tufts University Composers begin the fall semester series of New Sounds Now, featuring guest artist Elizabeth Reian Bennett playing the shakuhachi, a bamboo end-blown flute whose origins date to 16th century Japan. Reian Bennett is the first woman to be certified a Grand Master of the shakuhachi and one of only a handful of Western players trained in traditional Japanese music. She performs and teaches frequently in Japan and worldwide.

Note: Due to university COVID-19 regulations, live audience attendees at Tufts Music events must be prepared to present a Tufts ID or COVID vaccination card showing that they have been vaccinated and boosted.
