Violence Transformed: Stand Together

Tuesday, October 2, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

The Tufts University Arts Galleries presents a public reception for the exhibit “Stand Together,” on display through November 4. The exhibit celebrates the power of art, artists, and artmaking to address, confront and indeed transform violence. This exhibit brings together faculty, alumni and students of School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts who have partnered with one another to create works that demonstrate the power of art and artistic mentorship to foster social awareness, social justice and social change.

“Stand Together” highlights that challenge and sheds light on the violence, bigotry, and social injustice that seems at times to permeate our current social order and that bring to the forefront shared visions of a tolerant, diverse, just and non-violent world. These include both collaborative works created by a single pair of artists and separate but paired works that have been created by artists to speak to one another.

Violence Transformed is an annual series of visual and performing arts events at Tufts that celebrate the power of art, artists and art-making to confront, challenge and mediate violence.
