Juneteenth Exhibition and Community Panel
Thursday, June 19 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
FreeIn celebration of Juneteenth and in collaboration with the Resilient Sisterhood Project and Neighborhood Birth Center, Arts Collaborative Medford is hosting the groundbreaking exhibition, “Call and Response: A Narrative of Reverence to Our Foremothers in Gynecology.” This two-week educational exhibition highlights the stories of Anarcha, Betsey, and Lucy — three young enslaved ancestors whose bodies were used for medical experiments during the 1840s by Dr. James Marion Sims in Montgomery, Alabama. This evening’s program will feature a panel discussion with the artist Jules Arthur. “Call and Response” will be on public view at ACM Medford from June 19 to 30. No registration is required to attend tonight’s program.
