He is the recipient of honors including the Guggenheim Fellowship and National Endowment of the Arts Grant, and holds professor emeritus status at Bennington College, where he taught from 1973 to 2012. As a performer, he has been celebrated for his extensive career both as a solo artist and in collaboration with the New York Art Quartet, Albert Ayler, Don Pullen, dancer Min Tanaka, and many others. To this day, Professor Graves continues to share his music and philosophy in ever expanding ways.

Directed by Jake Meginsky and Neil Young, Milford Graves Full Mantis commemorates the legacy of innovation that Graves has sown. Made in close partnership with Graves, it is a celebration of music, life, and the deep interconnections within.
