The June art exhibition at the Medford Public Library is “Something Other Than,” a collection of portraits by photographer Michelle Schapiro of LGBTQ+ adults who are a part of the richness of all communities. A 2024 poll revealed that roughly 7.6% of American adults identify as
something other than cisgender heterosexual. Schapiro is a white, queer, cis woman whose identities inform a lot of her professional priorities; she makes photos that recognize the beauty in our intersecting identities and don’t cater to just one group. The photo exhibit will be on display in the second-floor gallery all month during regular hours.
