Exhibition Opening: Lisa L. Sears

Friday, March 1 @ 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

Free

The Medford Public Library opens its art exhibition for March, “Some Left, Some Stayed” by Lisa L. Sears. It features a collection of paintings and drawings on paper and canvas examining the sense of place that a person carries with them, and what is considered “home,” nostalgia, immigration and belonging. The exhibit is the culmination of years of ruminating and grew out of Sears’ favorite conversation starter: “Where were you born and what do you consider home?”

Sears is a Malden-based fine artist who creates paintings and drawings in water-based media on paper and canvas. Her work has been described as symbolic, mythic, emotional, colorful and sometimes a bit nightmarish or dreamlike, depending on the viewer’s perspective.

The exhibition will be on view all month in the second-floor gallery during regular library hours. Looking ahead, the library will exhibit a selection of works by Medford High School students in April, and paintings by Medford artist Adele Travisano in May.
