Brooks Estate Spring Spruce-up
Saturday, April 19 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
Today is the Medford-Brooks Estate Land Trust’s annual Spring Spruce-up, taking place in conjunction with the citywide cleanup. Key areas to spruce up around the city’s historic property are along the Grove Street Wall; along the boardwalk, near Brooks pond; and along the trails. M-BELT will provide some supplies (including rakes, trimmers, trash bags, and gloves), but volunteers are asked to bring yard tools if they have them. Lunch will be provided.
M-BELT is a nonprofit organization that manages the Brooks Estate, owned by the City of Medford. A former Victorian summer retreat for Peter Chardon Brooks and Shepherd Brooks, the property is graced by two Victorian buildings, the Shepherd Brooks Manor and Carriage House (1880), both slated for adaptive re-use as community assets. The property also offers Brooks Pond and 50 acres of open space for birds, wildlife and nature lovers.
