The Kalliope Reed Quintet invites you to an inspiring evening of music at First Baptist Church of Medford celebrating our planet. The Shallows, a dreampop/shoegaze band from Somerville, gets top billing tonight at Deep Cuts. The Shallows are vocalist Jess Baggia (This Bliss), guitarist Brad Emerson (ex-Strangeways, The Milling Gowns), drummer Jason Keisch (ex-SCUBA, ex-Strangeways), and bassist Brian McKinnon. The Medford Recreation Department invites you to bring the family and your creativity to LoConte Rink for Paint the Ice! Families will receive a box of paint to paint the ice with any artwork desired. Be sure to take pictures of your artwork. At the end of the event, the Zamboni will be remove the paint. For ages 3 and up. No skating experience is necessary. Cost is $5 per person. Register through the Medford Recreation website.

Turbo, a breakdance/hip-hop crew and student organization at Tufts, invites you to Turbomania 25, its annual jam, taking place in the Remis Sculpture Court in Aidekman Arts Center. The event will be mainly presented in a competition format, with cyphers going on in between competitions. Turbomania is open to the public; Turbo wants to create a space where breakers with different experiences can share their knowledge and stories through conversations of dance.

Arts Collaborative Medford presents an Into to Watercolor Workshop led by Lauren McIsaac. This class is aimed at beginners who are interested in learning watercolor painting. You'll begin by learning basic techniques (wet on dry, wet on wet, blending, layering). Then you'll practice these techniques by creating two easy landscape paintings. The instructor will provide materials (paint, palettes, paintbrushes, paper). All participants will have to bring is themselves. Cost is $75. Register through the ACM website.

The City of Medford invites you to its third annual Arabic Heritage Festival at the Brooks Elementary School. Join in celebrating Arabic culture and discovering the beauty of the oud instrument and makam basics with the HAWA Collective Band.
