DESCRIPTION:This workshop is a hands-on experience in the entire cyanotype process\, from blank paper to finished beautiful blue prints. By using light-sensitive chemicals on paper and fabric\, then placing objects like leaves\, flowers\, lace\, jewelry\, and more\, each student will expose their print to the sun’s UV rays in an outdoor space. Please add your name to the wait list in case we have cancellations.  \nThis beginner-friendly class is a fun introduction to stamp making and fabric printing. Using foam as your carving material\, you’ll design and create your own custom stamps\, learning simple carving techniques to add texture\, patterns\, and fine details. Once your stamps are complete\, you’ll experiment with fabric inks to print your designs onto fabric\, creating unique\, repeatable patterns. \nNo prior experience is necessary—all materials are provided. Feel free to bring a bag\, shirt or other fabric to up-cycle! Why not learn a positive habit of keeping a sketchbook by learning together in four sessions with Sharon Santillo. Participants of all ability levels will begin with basics of sketching or add to their drawing skills\, each in their own sketchbook that is about the size of a smartphone. Sharon’s habit of scrolling on her phone was replaced with her trusty sketchbook and she wants to share the fun that an awareness of surroundings\, building memories and making marks can add to life. This class is designed for anyone who can hold a pen and sketchbook\, and even if you haven’t drawn since childhood\, you can do this. Your class fee covers the cost of two sketchbooks and two micron pens to keep\, one for adult and one for school-aged child. This class is designed for anyone who can hold a pen and sketchbook\, and even if you haven’t drawn since childhood\, you can do this. Students will experiment with cyanotype printing (a sun-powered photo process)\, create imaginative photo collages\, build their very own pinhole cameras from cardboard boxes\, and bring drawings to life with hand-crafted zoetropes.
