DESCRIPTION:Sanctuary United Church of Christ and Hillside Community Church present a Pride Month edition of Faith and Film featuring the 2023 biographical drama “Rustin.” In the film\, Bayard Rustin\, an advisor to Martin Luther King Jr.\, dedicates his life to the quest for racial equality\, human rights\, and worldwide democracy. However\, as an openly gay Black man\, he is all but erased from the civil rights movement he helped build. Colman Domingo is electrifying as the title character and was nominated for best actor. The hosts will order pizza; you can bring something to share (wine\, beer\, soft drinks welcome). \nSanctuary UCC began its Faith and Film series in 2016 to explore the places where pop culture meets faith. Attendees watch a current film\, followed by a discussion about themes of morality\, faith\, and humanity led by local theologians and community leaders.

DESCRIPTION:Arts Collaborative Medford\, the new community arts center and studio space on Mystic Avenue\, is hosting “Art and Soul: More Than Acquaintances\,” presented by Sanctuary and Hillside churches and artist Michael Talbot\, whose work currently is on display at ACM in the exhibition titled “More Than Acquaintances.” Talbot’s pieces explore the delicately intertwined relationship between life and death. Join the conversation to collaborate and consider your own relationship with the themes and images of this stunning installation.
