SUMMARY:Cinema Kidz: Superhero Films
DESCRIPTION:The Medford Recreation Department is offering a six-week course for kids in kindergarten through grade 4 on how to make superhero films. Participants will invent\, design\, and become an original superhero to star in a short film. They’ll begin with drafting a look and power for their hero. Using the CinemaKidz costume kit\, children will then learn to create a costume and build props for their character. After storyboarding a short film and making a comic\, kids will then learn to use a green screen and film a short video to star in. Participants will learn how to add special effects and bring their character to life for the big screen as they create their superhero action film. The class will meet from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturdays from April 5 through May 17 (no class on April 26 due to school vacation week). Cost is $216 for Medford residents\, $240 for non-residents. SUMMARY:Halloween Fest Pumpkin Carving Event
DESCRIPTION:Thanks to Wegmans\, the Medford Recreation Department has received a large quantity of pumpkins for its annual Halloween Fest Pumpkin Float at Wright’s Pond on Satrurday\, October 26. This afternoon\, children (with a parent/guardian supervision) can carve a pumpkin to be displayed at the Halloween Fest. All carving equipment will be provided. This is a free event\, but registration is required through the Medford Recreation website. Organizers ask that you do not register if you do not plan to come\, due to the limited number of pumpkins. Please note that the pumpkins carved today will be kept for the Saturday evening Halloween Fest and not sent home with participants.
