WuZee, the only Chinese dance group at Tufts University, presents its sixth annual spring showcase, “Eclipse.” Taoists believe that the universe is shaped by opposing forces, known as yin and yang. Their interaction defines harmony and balance in our lives. This means that within force there is softness, but there is also softness within force. Eclipse represents the synergy that exists between forces that are antagonistic and polarizing to each other yet are equally necessary. Eclipse occurs when the sun and moon, two opposing forces, overlap and fuse to become one. Each of the WuZee dances incorporates the idea of synergy: slow dances have strength within and strong dances have calmness within to create something larger. Join in an afternoon traversing on swords, fans and parasols to explore the diverse forces that pay homage to Chinese culture. Guest performers include Full Sound.
