Tufts Anthropology Speaker Series: Black Food Matters

Friday, February 5, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Free

The Tufts University Department of Anthropology presents a moderated discussion with the authors of the book “Black Food Matters: Racial Justice in the Wake of Food Justice.” “Black Food Matters” (2020) analyzes how Blackness is contested through food, differing ideas of what makes our sustenance “healthy,” and Black individuals’ own beliefs about what their cuisine should be. Tune in for the discussion with the authors Hanna Garth (Assistant Professor, Princeton University) and Ashanté Reese (Assistant Professor, University of Texas at Austin).

Co-presented by the Center for the Humanities at Tufts as part of the Tufts Anthropology Speaker Series “Global Racism, State Violence, & Activism.”

Free and open to the public; register on the speaker series web page to receive the Zoom link: https://sites.tufts.edu/anthrospeakerseries/
