SUMMARY:Exhibition Opening: Lisa L. Sears
DESCRIPTION:The Medford Public Library opens its art exhibition for March\, “Some Left\, Some Stayed” by Lisa L. Sears. It features a collection of paintings and drawings on paper and canvas examining the sense of place that a person carries with them\, and what is considered “home\,” nostalgia\, immigration and belonging. The exhibit is the culmination of years of ruminating and grew out of Sears’ favorite conversation starter: “Where were you born and what do you consider home?” \nSears is a Malden-based fine artist who creates paintings and drawings in water-based media on paper and canvas. Her work has been described as symbolic\, mythic\, emotional\, colorful and sometimes a bit nightmarish or dreamlike\, depending on the viewer’s perspective. \nThe exhibition will be on view all month in the second-floor gallery during regular library hours. DESCRIPTION:Arts Collaborative Medford begins Part I of an online auction of artwork by the late Medford artist Louise Musto-Choate to benefit a new scholarship in her memory. Louise\, a founding member of ACM who passed away in 2020\, created many beautiful\, adventurous pieces. You can own one (or more) of them! Proceeds from the auction will help fund the Louise Musto-Choate Memorial Scholarship to provide studio space for emerging artists. Visit the ACM’s online auction page to view the 44 available items and place bids. Appointments also may be made toe view the items in person\, Tuesdays through Thursdays from noon to 4:30 p.m.; choose a time on the ACM web page. \nYou can place bids on as many of the artworks as you wish.
