A former Victorian summer retreat for Peter Chardon Brooks and Shepherd Brooks\, the property is graced by two Victorian buildings\, the Shepherd Brooks Manor and Carriage House (1880)\, both slated for adaptive re-use as community assets. The property also offers Brooks Pond and 50 acres of open space for birds\, wildlife and nature lovers.

The citizens must use public amenities\, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. Amid the people\, a hero decides that he’s had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom. It’s a satire of the legal system\, capitalism\, social irresponsibility\, populism\, environmental collapse\, privatization of natural resources\, bureaucracy\, municipal politics\, and musical theatre itself. DESCRIPTION:The Medford Public Library presents “Poems that Take Us Places\,” a reading by three poets with deep ties to Medford: Julia Lisella\, Judith Sanders and Theodora Stratis.  In celebration of National Poetry Month\, these poets read from work that transports us to locales as diverse as Cape Cod and Rome\, New York City and Athens\, moving through memory as well as geography. Lisella’s latest book is “Our Lively Kingdom” (Bordighera Press). She lives in Medford and teaches at Regis College. Sanders’ collection “In Deep” was published by Kelsay Books. Her writing appears in numerous journals and she won a major humor poetry prize. Stratis lives in Medford and was recently a featured poet at Voices of Diversity-Voices of America in Brockton. It’s a satire of the legal system\, capitalism\, social irresponsibility\, populism\, environmental collapse\, privatization of natural resources\, bureaucracy\, municipal politics\, and musical theatre itself. SUMMARY:Ensemble Faenza: Music of Life and Death in Early Modern France
DESCRIPTION:The Tufts University Department of Music presents a performance by the French ensemble Faenza\, a group that explores the music of the “ancien régime” – the political and social system of France before the Revolution of 1789. Faenza endeavors to rediscover the spirit rather than the letter\, and focus on the relationship between the audience and the musicians. Faenza’s performances result in interactive concert forms in which they connect with the audience by means of acting\, storytelling and reciting\, while relying on devices that minimize the physical distance between stage and audience. This event is part of Music\, Poetry\, and Moral Philosophy in Early Modern Europe\, a two- day interdisciplinary conference at the Granoff Music Center. DESCRIPTION:Students from Medford High School and the Medford Vocational Technical High School have designed a mosaic\, themed “Over the Rainbow\,” to celebrate the incredible rainbow of the MHS/VTHS community. It is being created by members of the Medford student body and community and will be the first permanent artwork to be displayed on the exterior walls of the MHS building. Community members are invited to help complete the mosaic\, which is about 75% done\, at this workshop; no experience with mosaics is required. The work will be facilitated by mosaic artist Susan Altman from ArtsMedford and by at least one teacher at Medford High School. Children (except students at MHS) must be accompanied by an adult.
