DESCRIPTION:The Royall House & Slave Quarters reopens today for its 2025 tour season. The museum will offer guided tours at 1\, 2 and 3 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday through mid-October. Admission for guided tours of the mansion is $15 for adults\, and $10 for seniors and students. Admission is always free for Royall House & Slave Quarters members; for children age 12 and under; for Massachusetts Teachers Association members and retirees; and for active duty military personnel and their families. Admission to the Slave Quarters\, which also houses the archaeological exhibit\, gift shop\, and restrooms\, is free of charge. No reservations are required for groups of fewer than 10 people. Groups of 10 or more are considered group tours and must have a reservation. Visit the Group Tours page on the RHSQ website for group rates and scheduling. \nIn the 18th century\, the Royall House & Slave Quarters was home to the largest slaveholding family in Massachusetts and the enslaved Africans who made their lavish way of life possible. Today\, the Royall House & Slave Quarters is a museum whose architecture\, household items\, archaeological artifacts\, and programs bear witness to intertwined stories of wealth and bondage\, set against the backdrop of America’s quest for independence. The Slave Quarters is the only remaining such structure in the northern United States\, and the Royall House is among the finest colonial-era buildings in New England.

DESCRIPTION:Arts Collaborative Medford host its monthly Jam Down By Riverside\, a direct descendent of the defunct blues jam at The Porch Southern Fare & Juke Joint\, which was a descendant of the Johnny D’s blues jam. Presented by the Medford nonprofit Down By Riverside\, Inc.\, the Jam is for building community and building skills. People of all ages\, abilities\, styles and instruments are welcome to join in the jamming. There is not a strict blues-only jam rule\, but probably 85% of the repertoire is blues or blues-derived music. All are invited to play or listen.
