Read and pick one recipe to prepare and share with the group at the monthly meeting! \nSpace is limited. Every person attending must register. If you want to bring someone with you\, they need to be registered and bring a separate dish. You must choose a recipe to be considered registered – please submit your registration here. Recipes already claimed can be seen here. \nDishes don’t have to be complicated or fancy – any recipe from the book is fair game! DESCRIPTION:The photographs in Claire Beckett’s debut monograph Defense Language (Gost Books) shows costumed role-players\, elaborate Hollywood-inspired sets and staged tableaus on military bases across the United States. Beckett embedded herself on these bases between 2006 and 2023 to explore the depiction of Arabs and Muslims during counterinsurgency training for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. \nClaire will be at Palm Press Thursday\, December 4 to talk about the work and sign copies of the book.

Recipes already claimed can be seen here. \nDishes don’t have to be complicated or fancy – any recipe from the book is fair game! (Except alcoholic beverages\, but mocktails are okay!) \nWe don’t have the ability to reheat food or keep it warm\, so keep this in mind when choosing recipes. \nYou’re responsible for bringing serving utensils\, but we’ll have plates/utensils for eating. You’re welcome to bring your own plate/utensils if you’d like to reduce single-use waste!
