DESCRIPTION:The June art exhibition at the Medford Public Library is “Something Other Than\,” a collection of portraits by photographer Michelle Schapiro of LGBTQ+ adults who are a part of the richness of all communities. A 2024 poll revealed that roughly 7.6% of American adults identify as\nsomething other than cisgender heterosexual. Schapiro is a white\, queer\, cis woman whose identities inform a lot of her professional priorities; she makes photos that recognize the beauty in our intersecting identities and don’t cater to just one group. The photo exhibit will be on display in the second-floor gallery all month during regular hours. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:The Tufts Department of Music and Tufts University Art Galleries are hosting experimental musician and exhibiting artist C. Spencer Yeh for his first Boston-area performance in a decade. Presented in conjunction with the current TUAG exhibition “Impossible Music\,” Yeh will perform improvisations on violin\, voice\, and electronics in Distler Hall. One hour before the performance\, TUAG will offer a curatorial tour of the Yeh’s installation “World of Music\,” part of the “Impossible Music” exhibition\, in the adjacent gallery in Aidekman Arts Center; both are on view through April 20. Yeh’s performance is presented in collaboration with Non-Event\, a Boston-based concert series devoted to the presentation of the finest in experimental\, abstract\, improvised\, and new music from New England and around the world.

All proceeds from calendar sales will support the Mystic Project’s programs for residents of the Medford Housing Authority. This show is the second thought that the inhabitants of the developed world seldom give to the habits of spending\, wasting\, and general frivolity. On the other hand\, what the heck else are we supposed to do? SUMMARY:Exhibit Opening Reception: Scavengers
DESCRIPTION:Arts Collaborative Medford invites you to an opening reception for “Scavengers\,” a showcase and pop-up library celebrating the resourcefulness of artists\, their ability to use anything as a tool for creating\, and their drive to create anywhere and everywhere. Scavengers know that anything can be made into art\, creating a world based on community resource rather than exclusion. This exhibition\, organized by artists Dominique Litif-Nelson and PHEEBZ\, includes sketchbooks\, objects\, signs\, and stickers by 30 artists. It is a celebration of outsider artists who don’t rely on the systems in place in order to create. They can bring their passion anywhere and everywhere\, in turn bringing art to anyone and everyone.
