DESCRIPTION:Join Kari at the Medford Public Library to learn how to customize a sewing pattern to suite your personal style! This two-part class will use a basic shirt pattern to start and focus on pattern making and drafting. There will be no sewing in this class\, but participants will leave with a customized pattern that they can construct independently or during drop-in hours. There may be time to start cutting your fabric during the second session\, so you can bring your own fabric if you have something specific in mind. \nThis workshop is aimed at advanced beginner and intermediate sewists who have some garment sewing experience. \nThis is a two-session workshop. Attendees MUST attend both sessions – Wednesday 7/9 in Bonsignore Hall from 6-8:30 PM and Thursday 7/10 in the MakerSpace from 6-8:30 PM. \nThis class is for adults. Register here.

DESCRIPTION:The City of Medford’s Condon Shell Summer Concert series continues with the Boston Music Award winners The Blue Ribbons. The band was formed by singer/songwriter/keyboardist James Rohr. They have been building a base of devoted fans with their original and soulful music. Described as “Ray Charles and Tom Waits on a pirate ship with Sun Ra and Captain Beefheart\,” they combine “upbeat disillusionment and celebratory fatalism with musicianship\,” wrote Charan Devereux in The Boston Globe. \nBring a chair or blanket and a picnic\, or stop by the adjacent Medford Farmers Market to grab some food. Remaining concerts in the Thursday evening series will feature the Susan Cattaneo Band on July 31\, the Baker Thomas Band on August 14\, and Kier Byrnes and the Kettle Burners on August 28. \n
